If the outfitter does not live up to their end of the bargain, the agent must make things right or be out of the business. 

Agents have most likely been to the outfitter's place of business and are familiar with what is needed to make your trip a success. If the trip is to a foreign country the agent should be familiar with the procedures and permits needed. They should also be familiar with the climate, terrain, and accommodations, enabling them to make suggestions as to the proper equipment needed. The agent is willing and able to answer all your questions at a moments notice saving you from making costly international long distance phone calls. 

The agent is your direct contact here in the US. Many foreign countries force the outfitters to convert US dollars into the local currency as soon as the money arrives. By using a US agent your money stays here in the states until the time of your departure. If you should need to cancel, your money can be refunded to you with ease. Without an agent, If your money is sent over directly, many foreign outfitters cannot convert it back to US dollars, greatly increasing  the time it takes to get your refund.

Not usually as the outfitter pays the agent directly  for the booking. If an outfitter does give you a discount for booking directly, you end up spending that money on phone calls, faxes, and postage getting the information needed to have a successful trip.

Can an agent assist me in getting trophies back into the US?

Yes most agents have knowledge of the laws dealing with the importation of animal products and can assist you with permits and shipping. This advise and experience all included in the service at no additional charge.

Can the safari agent make my travel arrangements for me?

Yes most safari agents are travel agents or have arrangements with a travel agency allow them to book every aspect of the trip.
